BEDFORD, Ohio (WJW) – Bedford police report they found an 8-year-old girl safe and shopping, after they said she took a car and drove on busy roads to Target.
On Sunday morning, police took a call for the missing child. As they began to investigate, police also took a call “concerning a small child driving east on Rockside Road.”

Officers eventually found the car in the parking lot of a Target store in Bainbridge. Police then found the child in the store.
Although the exact route the child took is not clear, Google Maps shows the store is more than 10 miles from where the child was reported missing and about a 20-25 minute drive.
She told officers during her travels she “struck a mailbox.”

The girl’s relatives were called to the store to get her and the vehicle.
Police tell the FOX 8 I-Team the girl is too young to charge criminally, and they are grateful no one was injured.
