Air condition malfunction leads to Jefferson Parish school closure
JEFFERSON PARISH, La. (WGNO) — Students at a Jefferson Parish school will be out of the classroom after an unexpected air conditioning malfunction.
Thursday morning, on Aug. 8, officials with Emmett Gilbert School of Excellence announced that out of an abundance of safety for students and staff, the school will be closed. This comes as temperatures are expected to reach extreme heat.
Boil water advisory issued for entire East Bank of New Orleans, Algiers Point
WGNO meteorologists say temperatures will see a high of 98 degrees.
School officials say they are working to correct the situation and will update parents as soon as possible. It is unknown whether the school will be back in session on Friday, Aug. 9
