Alabama A&M bid for Birmingham Southern campus not accepted
NORMAL, Ala (WHNT) — Alabama A&M University (AAMU) says its offer to buy the campus of Birmingham Southern College (BSC) was not accepted.
A university spokesperson confirmed to News 19 Wednesday that the university’s bid to acquire the campus of the former private college was not accepted. The university says it plans to shift resources to focus on its main Huntsville campus.

“With no deal in Birmingham, we will shift our resources to be invested on our main campus in Huntsville as we achieved record enrollment in the 2023-2024 academic year,” Vice President of Government Affairs & External Relations Shannon Reeves said.
AAMU made a second $65 million offer to buy the former college’s campus on June 14.
On May 1, Alabama A&M made an initial offer to purchase the BSC campus in the amount of $52 million. This included $22 million in cash and a $30 million investment in construction and maintenance upgrades needed to reopen doors and operate the full campus.
