Albion student faces felony charge after school threat via Snapchat
BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – A 14-year-old Albion student was arrested Sunday after allegedly making a school threat over the social media app Snapchat, the Orleans County Sheriff’s Office announced.
Their investigation determined the threat was made over a week ago. The student was charged with Making a Terroristic Threat, a felony.
“While this incident is concerning, the Sheriff’s Office wants to reassure the community that swift action was taken to address the situation, and we encourage parents and guardians to have open discussions with their children about the seriousness of threats and the importance of reporting any concerning behavior,” Chief Deputy Jeffrey Gifaldi said in a statement.
The student was taken into custody without incident and was released to their parents on an appearance ticket.
