Albuquerque Fire Rescue celebrates promotions of 16 members
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – It was a special day for Albuquerque Fire Rescue as the department celebrated promotions for 16 of its members. City officials recognized the hard work AFR puts into the community on a daily basis.

AFR had 13 lieutenant promotions, one shift commander promotion, one captain promotoin, and a deputy chief promotion. AFR said these promotions show the level of dedication their members have to their community and the department.
“Today we are celebrating a significant milestone in the careers of some of our most dedicated and most hardworking firefighters. It is with immense pride and respect we recognize those that are being promoted that are being promoted to the ranks of lieutenant captain, commander, and deputy chief,” said AFR Chief Emily Jaramillo.
Lifeguards and the staff of the Sunport Pool near the airport were also recognized during the ceremony for saving a swimmer who almost died. AFR EMS responded to the scene and transported the swimmer for care.
