‘ALEA needs your vote!’ Agency participating in 2024 America’s Best-Looking Cruiser Contest

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WHNT) — Voting is now open for the 11th annual America’s Best-Looking Cruiser Contest.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) joins highway patrol and state police agencies across the country to compete for the top spot in the American Association of State Troopers’ (AAST) Best-Looking Cruiser Contest.

This year, ALEA parked its new Dodge Challenger in front of the USS Alabama located in Mobile. The USS Alabama, a veritable symbol of America’s naval history, stands as a tribute to Alabama’s heritage.

The battleship also serves as a reminder of the state’s contribution to the nation’s defense and maritime legacy.

Flying over the new cruiser and battleship is a Bell 407 helicopter which is part of the Agency’s Aviation Unit.

“Each year, we look forward to participating in the National Best-Looking Cruiser Contest,” said ALEA Secretary Hal Taylor. “It’s a friendly competition between state agencies and engages citizens to support and interact with law enforcement in a positive way.”

Taylor says they look for locations or iconic scenes that reflect the state. This year, they chose to pay tribute to the enduring legacy of the USS Alabama and the men and women who served on the battleship.

The winner of the contest will be presented with the “Best-Looking Cruiser Award” and featured on the cover of AAST’s “America’s Best Looking Trooper Cruisers 2025 Wall Calendar.”

The calendars will be available for purchase on AAST’s website beginning October 1, 2024.
