Alleged gang member hurt after fight in EBR Parish Prison, sheriff’s office says

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — An alleged gang member was hurt after a fight in the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.

According to Casey Hicks, a spokesperson for the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office, an inmate has been taken to a local hospital after a reported fight in the prison.

The inmate was in a fight with several other inmates, where they reportedly cut the inmate.

Deputies are investigating to determine the inmates who were accused of fighting. The inmate refuses to cooperate with authorities to identify the other inmates.

The inmate was taken to a local hospital where they will be treated for several non-life-threatening cuts, according to Hicks.
