Amazon Fresh is an online and physical grocery store that offers “low prices on everyday favorites”, same-day delivery, and free pickup, according to its website. It also provides customers the option to avoid regular checkout lines by using the Amazon Dash Cart, technology that allows items to be scanned and weighed inside the basket as they shop.

The store has nearly 20 locations spread throughout the state, however, none in the northern part of California. Amazon Fresh is opening a Roseville location on 6780 Stanford Ranch Road in a shopping plaza that includes a Costco.

Opening date for the Roseville location is set for Aug. 22.

An Elk Grove location is expected to open at The Ridge Shopping Center on Bruceville Road.

“We can confirm we are bringing an Amazon Fresh store to Elk Grove, California,” Amazon spokesperson Griffin Buch said in a statement to FOX40.com.

“(We) look forward to serving the community with high-quality grocery items at a great value,” Buch said.

Although there was signage up on Aug. 5 about orientation for new employees, Amazon told FOX40.com it did not have information to share about an opening date for the Elk Grove location.

FOX40.com also asked about another possible location in Sacramento, but Amazon declined to comment.
