What, how, and why?

Brian May worried his fans recently when he shared that he had suffered a minor stroke over the summer - but his wife Anita Dobson put minds at rest on Friday's Loose Women as she reassured viewers that he was "still iconic".

The actor said it had been a scary time for them as they had come to terms with the fact that they might have to start slowing down on their busy showbiz lives, but said that the Queen guitarist had "got through it".

Asked how May was doing, she said: "I'm very happy to say he's stable, he's got through it.

"It was a bolt from the blue and a big wake up call for us both. You charge through life wanting to do the things you can do, failing, succeeding sometimes and you just don't think about that inevitable moment when you're going to have to slow down."

May, a keen campaigner against the culling of badgers, recently featured in BBC documentary The Badgers, The Farmers and Me about his animal activism work which he balances with his music career.

Dobson continued: "This has really made us both think you're not getting any younger and at some point you're going to have to face the prospect that you can't do the things you used to do so you will have to slow down and start making compromises.

"It has been a shock. Thank god he's alright. Still iconic."

In early September, May had posted a video to social media where he had told fans: "That little health hiccup that I mentioned happened about a week ago and what they called it was a minor stroke."

He pointed to his left arm, adding: "All of a sudden, out of the blue, I didn't have any control over this arm, so it's a little scary."

EastEnders has welcomed back some huge stars recently - with even death not standing in the way of some comebacks - but Dobson said viewers were unlikely to see her name in the credits again.

She is known for having played one of the BBC soap's most legendary characters, Angie Watts, but told Loose Women she has not been tempted to rejoin the cast.

Dobson said: "I never say never because you just don't know. But she was such a huge part of my life and so iconic, Angie, I would be reluctant to go back and tarnish that portrait.

"So I kind of want to leave her as glorious as she was, forever."

Loose Women airs on ITV1 at 12.30pm on weekdays.
