Anne Hathaway Invokes Sabrina Carpenter, Asks Students to “Please Please Please” Stay in Line to Vote
As people wait in line to cast their ballot on Election Day, Anne Hathaway is cheering them on with a little song.
The Oscar winner took to Instagram on Tuesday to encourage college students — particularly in Pennsylvania — to stay in line to vote, even if the lines are long. However, she did it to the tune of Sabrina Carpenter’s hit song “Please Please Please.”

“Hey everybody, so I hear that there’s crazy long lines at college campuses, which oh my gosh, you guys thank you for showing up to vote,” Hathaway said before putting on a pair of sunglasses and singing her own rendition of the song. “And I just wanted to say if you are on a line right now: Please, please, please stay on the line / Please, please, please, especially at UPenn and Temple just wait out your time / Voting is magic but also annoying / You waited out this long, let’s make it not boring / Oh please, please, please, hold the line.”
The Idea of You actress added in her caption, “Whoa… hearing there are massively long lines at colleges and universities everywhere but especially in Pennsylvania. Please stay in line! … MOST IMPORTANTLY if you are in line before the polls close, stay in line, even after closing time. Polls will stay open until everyone in that line has voted! These are your rights! Thank you voters!”
Hathaway is among the celebrities reminding people to vote on Election Day. Fellow actor Paul Rudd also made a surprise visit to the voting lines at Temple University in Pennsylvania on Tuesday to hand out water.
As for Carpenter, she’s also been putting in the work leading up to Election Day. It was revealed that the singer has registered more voters than any other artist ahead of the 2024 presidential election during her Short n’ Sweet tour.
