Arizona's Kari Lake may be the most popular Senate candidate ... in Florida
Kari Lake, the Arizona Republican candidate for U.S. Senate, is once again demonstrating her celebrity power and appeal to GOP voters. Unfortunately for her, those folks live in Florida.
Where she isn’t running.
While the Arizona Legislature works through efforts to repeal the 1864 abortion ban that Lake once referred to as a “great law,” she was busy campaigning in Pensacola Beach — just about as far away from Phoenix that an Arizona candidate can get — with Florida Republican Rep. Matt Gaetz.
Or, as Gaetz put it in a statement before the event, “My good friend and America First patriot @KariLake will be in Pensacola Beach this Wednesday. Tickets are going fast, you won’t want to miss this.”
Kari Lake makes big bucks in Florida
Gaetz, in case you don’t know, could make a very strong case for himself as the ickiest, creepiest member of Congress.
The House Ethics Committee, which is led by a Republican, has an ongoing investigation into whether Mr. Gaetz had sex with a 17-year-old while he was serving in Congress.
Just last week, ABC News reported that another woman told the committee about a 2017 party Gaetz attended that “featured alcohol and drugs including cocaine and MDMA.”
Lake flips again on abortion: Or is it flops?
Apparently, that’s not much of a concern in Florida.
Still, I can see why Gaetz would want to appear with Lake. At Trump’s mini-kingdom of Mar-a-Lago recently, Lake was said to have hauled in $1 million at a fundraiser.
How does this apply to Arizona?
She’s done gigs at other locations in the state as well. Along with fundraisers and campaign events all over the country.
At one point People Magazine ran an article with the headline: “Kari Lake Appears at Mar-a-Lago More than Melania Trump and ‘Practically Lives’ in a Suite (Exclusive Source).”
I’m sure that, in addition to hitting up campaign donors, Lake’s time spent in Florida has afforded her with all kinds of educational opportunities, particularly about things like beaches and swamps and allegators and hurricanes and Disney World.
All of which could come in handy back home in … ah … never mind.
