Army veteran and NASA scientist Herb Brownstein turns 104
COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — Not all birthdays are made equal. And on Friday, a local veteran is celebrating 104 years on this Earth.
Herb Brownstein is a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran who went on to work as a NASA scientist assisting with the Apollo 11 mission.
As is tradition, when someone hits a milestone like this, you ask what their secret is. And Brownstein’s advice did not disappoint.

“By counting from one to 104,” Brownstein said. “Just breathe hard when it’s time to breathe.”
NBC4’s Ben Gelber had a conversation with Brownstein last year about his time with NASA.
