Arrest made in New Orleans fatal shooting investigation

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — A man was arrested on Friday in connection with a New Orleans homicide investigation.

NOPD talks crime reduction, highlights partnership with local agencies

According to the New Orleans Police Department, around 1:33 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 11, officers were dispatched to the 10800 block of Chef Menteur Highway on reports of a man down. After arriving, the victim, later identified as 23-year-old Desean Leggett, was found with multiple gunshot wounds.

He was later pronounced dead following the arrival of emergency services on scene.

On Aug. 13, the Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office identified Leggett and determined the cause of death to be from gunshot-related injuries.

Investigation later revealed 22-year-old Ted “Tezo” Breaux to be the alleged shooter. A warrant for his arrest was obtained on Aug. 12.

Breaux was found and arrested on Aug. 16 by members of the NOPD’s Violent Offender Warrant Squad. He was booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center on one count of second-degree murder.
