Ascension Parish man charged in connection with hit-and-run that killed one in Denham Springs
DENHAM SPRINGS, La. (BRPROUD) — An arrest has been made in connection with a crash that killed a pedestrian walking along a highway in Livingston Parish.
Joseph J. Casselberry Jr., 69, of St. Amant was charged with hit-and-run driving resulting in death or injury.
The Louisiana State Police was called to the scene of a crash involving two vehicles and a pedestrian around 10 p.m. on Wednesday, July 10.
Deasha Doucet, 30, of Denham Springs was hit by a pickup truck while walking south on LA 447 before getting hit by another car, LSP said. Officials said the driver of the second vehicle reported the crash and provided assistance at the scene.
Doucet died at the crash scene.

They said that as the investigation unfolded, “troopers identified Casselberry as the driver of a 2017 Chevrolet pickup that struck Doucet.”
Casselberry was booked into the Livingston Parish jail on Thursday, July 11. His bond was set at $25,000.
The investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
