August is Clear the Shelters Month

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – If you’ve been thinking about adopting a pet, Saturday, August 24, is a great day to do it.

August is Clear the Shelters month and on Saturday there will be a big push to get as many animals adopted as possible.

WTWO and Toyota of Terre Haute are partnering with local animal shelters to help make that happen. WTWO will broadcast live on Saturday at the Terre Haute Humane Society, which will have extended hours and discounts on adoption fees.

Volunteer Coordinator Maggie Wheeler said adopting a pet saves two lives: the animal you’re adopting and the animal the shelter will then have room to take in another.

“Please come out. Please adopt. If you can’t come to our shelter, please go to your local shelter. We’re all in the same boat. We’re all overcrowded and we all need help,” Wheeler said
