Director Jeff Nichols said there was a "healthy camaraderie" between the pair, and described shooting the scene where Benny first meets his girlfriend Kathy, played by Jodie Comer.

"When Benny comes over to talk to Kathy, Tom yells out, 'Hey Austin, just turn your chair around. Just go ahead and turn your chair around.'" he said.
"Austin did it, and then it gave him something to prop his arms up on. And these massive biceps and triceps, glistening in the light."

Meanwhile, in an interview with Digital Spy, Hardy was full of praise for Butler, who he described as "awesome."
