Autopsy results in for Elberta teen found dead — investigation ongoing: Officials

BALDWIN COUNTY, Ala. (WKRG) — Preliminary autopsy results are in for an Elberta teen whose body was found on Friday, News 5 has learned.

According to authorities, autopsy results were consistent with drowning, and no foul play is suspected at this point.

However, officials say that the investigation into the death of Avery Pickle, a 17-year-old Elberta High School student and football player, whose body was found in the Perdido Beach Area after he was seen swimming in Palmetto Creek, will continue.

  • Investigators say Pickle went missing during a party on the Fourth of July.

  • Investigators said that at some point, the 20 other people at the party realized Pickle was missing and searched neighboring houses and businesses before contacting law enforcement.

  • His body was found on Friday in 4 to 5 feet of water after investigators said the group had been jumping from a 35-foot Sportfisher boat into the water.
