How bad is the speeding problem in Shawnee County?
TOPEKA (KSNT) – Law enforcement has issued thousands of speeding tickets in Shawnee County over the years, with some for drivers found going at extremely dangerous speeds.
27 News reached out to the Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office, Kansas Highway Patrol and Topeka Police Department to learn how many speeding tickets have been doled out over the past decade, including how many have been issued so far in 2024. These statistics also include how many drivers were caught going over 100 mph in the county and Capital City.

City of Topeka spokeswoman Rosie Nichols said very few tickets have been issued to drivers caught going more than 100 mph in city limits. No specific numbers were given.
