BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — A Baker woman is accused of trying to steal tens of thousands of dollars in fake state income tax refunds.

According to the Louisiana Department of Revenue, Keiasha Brister submitted state individual income tax returns containing false payroll documentation and stolen personal data. LDR said she submitted the fake tax returns 10 times between February and April.

“LDR’s Criminal Investigations Division intercepted the returns and prevented the issuance of more than $25,000 in fraudulent tax refunds,” the department said.
