Bakersfield announces plans for 2024 Independence Day celebration at The Park at River Walk
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The annual free Independence Day celebration fireworks show returns to the Park at River Walk next month, city officials announced.
The Fourth of July party will feature music by DJ Pantamime at the Dignity Health Amphitheater starting at 6 p.m. before the fireworks show, the city said through a news release.

Zambelli Fireworks will be lighting up the night sky with its big show beginning at 9 p.m.
You will also find food vendors and a beer garden. Some of the food vendors include:

Organizers want to remind the community that no outside alcohol will be allowed into the park. However, a beer garden will be on site, just east of the amphitheater.
You will only be able to drink alcohol inside the beer garden. cold water and other beverages will also be available in the garden.
With the large celebration, comes some road closures in the surrounding area.
Access to Aera Park and the Kern River Bike Trail at Calloway Drive and Jewetta Avenue will be closed at 8 p.m. Traffic through the Park at River Walk area will be closed through the fireworks show:
Westbound lanes of Stockdale Highway will be closed at Calloway Drive and Old River Road.
The right turn lane on southbound Calloway Drive and the left turn lanes on northbound Old River Road will also be closed.
Drivers will be permitted to turn left onto southbound Old River Road or right onto northbound Calloway Drive.

Eastbound lanes of Stockdale Highway will be closed at Jewetta Avenue (near Aera Park).
The left turn lanes on southbound Jewetta will also be closed.
Drivers will be permitted to turn north onto Jewetta from eastbound Stockdale Highway.
Northbound lanes of Buena Vista Road will be closed at River Run Boulevard.
Drivers will be permitted to turn east or west onto River Run Boulevard from Buena Vista Road.
The left turn lanes from River Run Boulevard onto Buena Vista Road will be closed. Traffic will be allowed to travel eastbound on Stockdale Highway from River Run Boulevard.
The intersection of River Park Way and Stockdale Highway will be closed.
Access to the Village at River Oaks shopping center will also be limited during this time.
The west exit from the Shops at River Walk shopping center will be closed during the event. Drivers should leave the shopping center at any of the other exits to Stockdale Highway or Calloway Drive.
Drivers are advised to avoid the area during the celebration if possible and to expect delays.
