Band members sickened at local football game

LORAIN, Ohio (WJW) – Local school officials say band members that experienced health concerns during a Friday night football game that required medical attention have been evaluated and sent home with their families.
According to a post to the Lorain City Schools Facebook page, during the home football game on Friday, Sept. 6, several marching band members became sick and were transported to a local emergency room for evaluation.

“We want to make it clear that there is no indication that the students did anything wrong or violated any school policies,” read the post. “This incident is being treated as an isolated health event, and we are responding according to our standard health and safety protocols.”
The post did not say how many students were sickened or elaborate on what kind of symptoms they experienced.

“We take all health-related incidents seriously and want to assure you that the situation is under control. The students have received appropriate care, and we are continuing to support them and monitor their progress,” read the post.
