Barbie Party, Downhome music festival, Murder Mystery show on tap in Springfield

Party with Barbie's, attend a music festival, or solve a dinner murder mystery at events happening in Springfield this weekend.

Here are five events to attend:

Barbie Party

Grab a friend and get dolled up for the Barbie Party on Thursday.

The event runs from 5:30-8 p.m. at Luminary Kitchens and Provisions, 3121 Hedley Rd.

A Barbie and Ken costume contest with guest judge Mahogany Knight will be featured. There will also be a photobooth and Barbie themed cocktails and food.

The event is open to all ages and reservations are required.

Joe Pug Live

Joe Pug, who broke out the Chicago folk scene and got a big career break touring with Steve Earle, plays at Broadgauge, 101 N. Seventh St. in Petersburg, at 8 p.m. Friday.

Now based in Austin, Texas, Pug is in support of the 2022 album release "Nation of Heat Revisited." In 2007, Earle tapped Pug for his Townes Van Zandt tribute tour. Pug also has toured with Levon Helm (The Band), The Killers, Justin Townes Earle and Sturgill Simpson, among others.

Michael Allen and Nick Lee open the show.

Downhome Music Festival

Support local, original music at the Downhome Music Festival on Friday and Saturday.

The event runs from 5 p.m. to midnight on Friday and 2 p.m. to midnight on Saturday at the corner of Seventh and Washington street in downtown.

Local bands will perform across four stages and over 100 different craft beers will be available. There will also be food vendors and a kids area.

Dinner Detective Murder Mystery Show

Solve a crime while enjoying a meal at the Dinner Detective Murder Mystery show on Saturday.

The event runs from 6-9 p.m. at Maldaner's Restaurant, 222 S. 6th St.

Abe For All

Learn about the legacy of Abraham Lincoln at the Abe For All Sensory Friendly event on Sunday.

The event runs from 1-4 p.m. at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum, 212 N. Sixth St.

Interactive activities and presentations about the former president will be featured. Lighting will be turned up, audio will be turned down, and quiet rooms will be available.

The Abe for All series is a museum initiative designed to make learning about Lincoln’s legacy accessible to people with disabilities. Tickets are $6 for adults, $12 for seniors and $6 for children ages 5 to 15.
