Baton Rouge man convicted of drug distribution gets 192 months in federal prison

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — A Baton Rouge man was sentenced after being convicted of possession with the intent to distribute methamphetamine.

According to U.S. Attorney Ronald C. Gathe Jr., Allen Ambrose, 47, of Baton Rouge, was sentenced to 192 months in federal prison after his conviction for possession with the intent to distribute methamphetamine.

According to a U.S. Department of Justice news release, narcotics agents with the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office investigated the drug trafficking activities of Ambrose and his girlfriend, which included physical surveillance, ping warrants and controlled purchases of methamphetamine.

Agents found Ambrose at a hotel on Energy Drive in Baton Rouge on June 22, 2022. The DOJ said, agents “planned execution of an arrest warrant and several search warrants.”

According to the DOJ, Ambrose ran away when he saw agents and during the pursuit, he disposed around three ounces of methamphetamine over a fence.

During the completion of search warrants and of Ambrose’s person, agents reportedly discovered more than four kilograms of methamphetamine, $4,850 in numerous denominations, a scale, a pill press, a quantity of suspected marijuana, LSD and MDMA.

The DOJ said that during questioning, Ambrose “admitted knowing and intentional possession of the narcotics located in the hotel room.”
