Baton Rouge man facing drug charges after over two pounds of suspected marijuana seized
BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – An investigation by the Baton Rouge Police Department led to the arrest of a Baton Rouge man on drug charges.
Baton Rouge police officers were called to a reported shooting in the 1500 block of North 48th Street around 1:40 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9. An officer arrived on the scene and saw Jajuantae Brown, 26, heading toward a vehicle “with what appeared to be a firearm in his hand,” according to the affidavit. He was detained at gunpoint, BRPD said.
The officer was given permission to look through the vehicle for guns. The officer could see a large bag of marijuana in plain view and Brown was arrested at the scene.

A search of the vehicle uncovered “2.6 pounds of suspected marijuana, 64 ounces of suspected Promethazine, and 7 ounces of codeine in the form of cough syrup,” according to the affidavit. BRPD said a scale and individual bags were also found during the search.
Brown said that Promethazine was the liquid that was found in the bottles, according to the affidavit.
He was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish and charged with manufacture, distribution or possession with intent to distribute Schedule V, manufacture, distribution or possession with intent to distribute Schedule I and possession of drug paraphernalia.
