Baton Rouge teen accused of triple murder in 2021 shooting that killed baby rejects plea deal

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — A Baton Rouge teen accused of being connected to a shooting on Memorial Day in 2021 rejects a plea deal.

Dewayne Dunn, Jr.,16, Reginald Thomas, 20, and one-year-old Ja’Tyri’ Brown, were shot and killed at the Fairway View Apartments on College Drive in Baton Rouge on May 31, 2021.

Two teenagers, David Williams, 19, and LeDarrius Coleman, 18, were arrested in connection to the deadly shooting after an anonymous tip was submitted to Crime Stoppers. At the time of the arrest, Coleman was a 15-year-old suspect, according to arrest documents.

Coleman faces three counts of second-degree murder. He was offered a plea agreement, where he would face manslaughter charges and serve 33 years in prison, but Coleman rejected the deal.

Williams also faces three counts of second-degree murder, according to court documents.

A trial for both men is scheduled for Aug. 19.
