BBC One's Doctor Foster spin-off unveils first-look photos
The BBC has unveiled the first look at its Doctor Foster spin-off Life.
Mike Bartlett has opted to pursue a new story with Gemma Foster's neighbour Anna Baker (Victoria Hamilton) in her own show, rather than a proper Doctor Foster series three at present.
New photos have unveiled the star-studded cast of Life, including former Doctor Who actor Peter Davison and Gavin and Stacey's Alison Steadman as another couple Anna encounter in this new phase of her life.
Also joining the cast will be stage icon Elaine Paige, Susannah Fielding (This Time with Alan Partridge), Adrian Lester (Riviera), Rachael Stirling (The Bletchley Circle), Saira Choudhry (Hollyoaks) and Melissa Johns (Coronation Street).
Doctor Foster's Adam James will also reprise his role as Anna's husband Neil Baker – but will he be shocked to find out his former spouse is now calling herself 'Belle'?
Belle's life has already been complicated when she's thrust into caring for her rebellious 15-year-old niece Maya (Les Miserables' Erin Kellyman).
Here's an official synopsis for Life: "Set in Manchester, Life follows the stories of the residents of a large house divided into four flats. As each of the four stories unfold and intertwine in surprising ways, they tell a larger story about what happens when we step out of our personal space and take a closer look into other people's lives.
"Life explores love, loss, birth, death, the ordinary, the extraordinary and everything in between."
BBC One will be airing the six-part series this autumn.
Unfortunately, Suranne Jones recently suggested that a proper third series of Doctor Foster is unlikely, telling Radio Times: "I loved it, I love Mike Bartlett, I love [the producers] Drama Republic.
"Series one was amazing, series two, equally, peaked at nearly ten million viewers and pushed in crazy directions. But I think Gemma's done."
