'Beloved breakfast' sandwich returns to fast food restaurants in Peoria

A “beloved breakfast item” is back on the menu at Peoria-area McDonald's locations, according to a news release.

On April 1, customers could once again find the restaurant chain's bagel sandwiches. All sandwich options include an egg and American cheese. Aside from the egg and cheese bagel, the menu includes:

• Sausage, egg and cheese bagel

• Bacon, egg and cheese bagel

• Steak, egg and cheese bagel ? which is served with grilled onions.

The bagel sandwiches disappeared from menus four years ago. Since then, a Today article noted that fans have created spreadsheets and Facebook groups dedicated to finding the sandwich.

There are over a dozen McDonald's locations in Peoria and Tazewell counties. Customers can find the nearest storefront by going to https://www.mcdonalds.com/us/en-us/restaurant-locator.html.
