Bernalillo County Manager Julie Morgas Baca retires

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Bernalillo County Manager Julie Morgas Baca has retired from her position. Morgas Baca took over the job in 2015 and was the first woman to hold the position in decades.

Her achievements include the development of behavioral health programs, managing the county through the COVID-19 pandemic, and overseeing the county’s renovations and move to Alvarado Square.

“Bernalillo County is in great hands. We have a great commission, we have wonderful elected officials, and we have the most amazing staff that is going to keep the county going until you get the new county manager,” said Morgas Baca.

The Bernalillo County Commission selected Cindy Chavez to replace Morgas Baca. She previously served on the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors in northern California.
