Unbelievably Large Shelter Cat 'Big Boi Mr. B' Has The Internet Swooning
A very large, very charismatic cat is breaking the internet ā or at least the website of the animal shelter where heās up for adoption.
Morris Animal Refuge in Philadelphia tweeted two photos of the hefty tabby, BeeJay, in the arms of animal care attendant Lacy Curtis.
āOMG, big boi Mr. B is a CHONK,ā the shelter wrote. āHeās a chonk of a chonk. He redefines the term.ā
OMG, big boi Mr. B is a CHONK. Heās a chonk of a chonk. He redefines the term. Can you guess how much he weighs? More importantly, can you give him a home? BeeJay weighs in at 26 pounds, and though the shelter noted that heās āgenuinely big boned,ā heāll also likely need to lose a few pounds for his health.
āHeās a *very* large cat, and also overweight,ā shelter social media coordinator Dan Solomon told HuffPost via Twitter.
Solomon said that BeeJay was surrendered to the shelter on Tuesday by a family that could no longer care for him.
āWhat weāve seen of his personality so far, he seems very quiet and laid back and sweet,ā said Solomon.
Since the photos went out on social media, BeeJayās popularity has been so intense that the vast numbers of people seeking more information crashed the shelterās website, which Solomon noted was still down as of Thursday night.
Luckily for anyone interested in adopting him, more information about BeeJay ā and the rest of the shelterās animals ā is still accessible via Petfinder.
And if BeeJay's numerous fans and admirers online are any indication, he'll have no trouble finding a home.

UPDATE: Aug. 29 ā After receiving more than 3,000 adoption applications for Mr. B., Morris Animal Refuge announced Thursday on social media that he had been placed with a foster family.
āMr. B has some underlying health and behavioral issues that will need exceptional care and attention,ā the shelter wrote. āBecause of this, we have placed Mr. B with one of our dedicated foster families who has experience working with cats that have behavioral and medical issues. This family hasnāt just dealt with these issues in other cats, they have embraced them.ā
According to the shelter, the goal is for the foster family to ultimately become Mr. Bās āforever home.ā
