Billionaire Mark Cuban talks presidential candidates’ economic plans, argues support for Harris

CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — The campaigns for president returned to North Carolina Monday to argue their candidate will be better for voters’ pocketbooks.

Queen City News spoke with billionaire Mark Cuban. Cuban, known for owning the Dallas Mavericks and his role on the TV show Shark Tank, argued Harris has a better plan for taxes, foreign trade, and medical care. Cuban said Harris wants to require transparent medical costs.

“That could cut your household medication bills by 20, 30 percent or more,” he told Queen City News.

Trump, a billionaire himself, told supporters in Raleigh Monday morning that he is the better choice for their bottom line, “[Harris’] inflation disaster has made life unaffordable and cost families over $30,000 in higher prices.”

The 45th president is promising to cut taxes broadly, arguing that and increased investment in American energy will solve high inflation.

“Slash your prices, raise your wages, and bring thousands of factories back to America and back to North Carolina,” he pledged.

Where the two sides really disagree economically is tariffs. Trump is threatening high taxes on Mexico’s exports into the US, “If they don’t stop this onslaught of criminals and drugs coming into our country, I’m going to immediately impose a 25% tariff on everything they send into the United States of America.”

Cuban argued a tariff war is the last thing Americans need, that they will have to cut back if Trump’s tariffs are put in place, “not only are you unhappy and your family is unhappy, but all those businesses and particularly small businesses that you buy from, they’re upset as well, and it really negatively impacts them and the economy.”
