If Sandra Bullock was the head cheerleader — seriously, she was in high school, she still has the uniform to prove it! — and Billy Bob Thornton was the bad boy, this is what their prom picture would look like (just subtract a few years for accuracy). The pair got close on the red carpet at the premiere of their new movie in which they play campaign coordinators going head-to-head.

In the movie Our Brand Is Crisis, Billy Bob Thornton plays a political campaign leader in South America named Pat Candy. He wears a bald cap, sports a goatee, and favors buttoned-up suits. But on the red carpet at the premiere of the film on Monday night, he looked — and dressed — nothing like his movie counterpart in denim pants without pockets, a belt with a large oval buckle, a black muscle tank that showed off his tatted-up arms, cowboy boots, gold-tinted sunglasses, and gray hair. The facial hair was the only thing that connected the man to the character.

His adversary on screen, Sandra Bullock (although not in real life — just look at them prom posing together!), wore a more red carpet appropriate outfit in a J. Mendel dress. The chiffon number featured a choppy hemline and leather detailing that added some edge. Zoe Kazan, also in the movie, matched with Bullock in black and white in a see-through Rachel Comey number. George Clooney, a producer on the film, was in attendance as well, most likely wearing Armani, but it was his wife, Amal Clooney, who was the real treat in a Roland Mouret minidress.
