Blue Angels Pensacola Beach Airshow weather: heat, humidity and scattered thunderstorms

Braving the traffic to see the annual Blue Angels Pensacola Beach Air Show this weekend? Expect heat and the potential for afternoon thunderstorms.

Any residual effect from the movement of Tropical Depression Beryl will be out of the area this weekend and the weather will be back into a typical July pattern of hot days and afternoon thunderstorms.

The National Weather Service office in Mobile, Alabama, is calling for a between 30% to 50% chance of rain over Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Where it's not raining, expect it to be hot, with temperatures in the mid-90s and humidity driving up the heat index above 100 degrees.

NWS Meteorologist Caitlin Baldwin said the heat index will be lower than what the area has seen in the last few days, when the heat index has gone above 108 degrees, triggering heat advisories.

"Right now, they look to be below heat advisory criteria, which is 108," Baldwin said. "It's going to be pretty hot though. The better day for a potential heat advisory would maybe be Saturday, but generally, looking at heat index values around 100 to 105. It's going to be hot and humid regardless, just maybe not as bad as what we've seen (this past week)."

Baldwin said any thunderstorm formation would occur along the coast and push inland from the sea breeze.

"There will be spotty showers and wind here and there, but it won't be a total washout," Baldwin said.
