Update: Body found in Baton Rouge field, police now investigating as accidental overdose
UPDATE: According to the Baton Rouge Police Department, the homicide division has reviewed the coroner’s report. They will treat the case as an accidental overdose.

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — The Baton Rouge Police Department is investigating after a body was found Wednesday, July 10.
BRPD said they responded to the 800 block of North Ardenwood Drive around 11:30 a.m. Wednesday. According to BRPD, the body was found in a nearby field by construction workers who were working at the store. Police said the victim was a male.
Baton Rouge Emergency Medical Services said they were called to a body being found around 11:30 a.m. Wednesday. When EMS arrived on the scene, they contacted the coroner’s office. The East Baton Rouge Coroner’s Office said they were called around noon to the scene.

According to police, homicide detectives are pursuing this as a death investigation until the coroner’s office comes back with the cause of death.
