Body found near Perdido Beach in Baldwin County
UPDATE (1:40 p.m.): The Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office has released a statement about the body found today in the Perdido Beach area.
“On July 4, 2024, the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office responded to Perdido Beach in
reference to a missing seventeen-year-old who was last seen swimming in Palmetto Creek,” the statement said. “First responders, search and rescue, and volunteers conducted searches throughout the area, which resulted in the missing juvenile being located this morning in the water.”
The Sheriff’s Office is investigating the tragic turn of events, according to the statement.
In the meantime, “The Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank all the first responders, Daphne Search and Rescue, and all the volunteers for their efforts,” the statement said.
“We would also like to offer our sincere condolences to the family during this time.”
UPDATE (11:44 a.m.): News 5 has received more specific information about the body found in Baldwin County. The location was closer to Selma Avenue in the Perdido Beach area. We have updated the headline to reflect this information.

BALDWIN COUNTY, Ala. (WKRG) — The body of a young man was recovered around 10 a.m. north of Pirates Cove, News 5 has learned.
Mobile Police investigating homicide outside Academy store
It is believed to be that of a 17-year-old who went missing Thursday evening.
Baldwin County Sheriff’s deputies and officials with Daphne Search and Rescue have been searching the area since late yesterday.
Deputies said the teen was last seen going into the water with friends around a private pier north of Pirates Cove.
Witnesses said the 17-year-old got separated from his friends while swimming.
