What did you miss?

Boy George has admitted he didn’t enjoy his I’m A Celebrity stint at the time and that he couldn’t stop eating after he left the jungle.

The Culture Club singer was a camper in 2022 and was the fourth contestant to be eliminated from the ITV show.

Opening up on This Morning, he joked that he munched through “about 65 pizzas” after living on basic rations in camp.

What, how, and why?

The star was on the show to talk about his book, Karma, and to mark the interview the studio was transformed into an 80s disco.

George – whose real name is George O’Dowd - told hosts Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary that after he left I’m A Celebrity he couldn’t believe he had done it.

Asked if he enjoyed it, he confessed: “Not at the time.”

“I think a lot of things in life, in hindsight you go, ‘Oh my God I can’t believe did that but actually what did I get out of it?’”

He also suggested he had been hungry, as contestants live on a simple diet of rice and beans unless they win stars in Bushtucker Trials, which they swap for meat, fish and veg.

When they don't secure stars, they tend to go hungry and lots of celebs come out saying how much weight they've lost.

“I ate everything, about 65 pizzas,” George said of leaving camp.

“Once I was out of there I was like, ‘Oh my God I can’t believe I put myself through it because I like clean, I like very tidy.”

The star also claimed that not everything was as it seemed.

George, who likes to meditate, explained: “When I was chanting in the morning and singing in the treehouse they made out I did it all day long which is rubbish.

“And also I didn’t wake anyone up, that was just rubbish – there was this creature that kept squawking and everyone thought it was me!”

What else did Boy George say?

The Karma Chameleon singer also opened up about his pop career, revealing that back in the day he thought he “knew everything” and used to think there wasn’t space for lots of gay music stars.

“At the time it was like, competition, hate them all… all that sort of stupid, like, wanting to be the only gay person in the charts,” he laughed, adding that he “just couldn’t understand that there was room for everyone”.

The singer said he found during his career that the fame could be a distraction because it “starts to get more fun than being in the studio or working”.

“You forget why you do what you do,” he explained.

“I think actually enjoy being Boy George more now that I did at the top, you know, at the height of it, it was a nightmare.

“But now I love it.”
