Brian Cox comments on existence of aliens after UFO hearing: 'It would be great if true'
Former military officials claimed the US govenment know aliens exist
Brian Cox has weighed in on the potential existence of aliens following the controversial senate hearing in the US about UFO's.
On 26 July, several former military officials claimed under oath that the American government is covering up how much it knows about aliens and extraterrestrial life though the Pentagon denies any claim of a cover-up.
Cox, perhaps the world's most famous physicist, has offered his opinion on the matter on Twitter.

Cox added: "Therefore I have nothing more to say, other than: It would be great if true - it would take a bit of the pressure off our civilisation if we weren’t the only means within the Milky Way by which the Universe understands itself."
He concluded by saying: "Sadly, as of today, I still feel that pressure, so can we perhaps focus on not messing our world up rather than hoping that, to paraphrase Sagan, someone will float down to save us from ourselves."
The UFO hearing largely revolved around the testimony of whistleblower David Grusch, a former US intelligence officer. In media interviews, he had made claims that the government were in possession of an alien craft the size of a football field but would not repeat the claims under oath.
Grusch also said "non-human beings" had been found and that the US government had known about aliens since the 1930s, citing a “bell-like craft” that was recovered in Italy that was passed to America.
Grusch was criticised by many for failing to substantiate his claims or offer hard evidence.
