Brindlee Mountain High Assistant Principal passes away

MARSHALL COUNTY, Ala (WHNT) — Marshall County Schools has announced that Brindlee Mountain High School (BHMS) Assistant Principal Bill Ballew has died.

Marshall County Superintendent Cindy Wigley shared the news Tuesday night on social media.

She said Ballew was loved by many in the community and the community will always remember him.

“So many hearts are broken.” The superintendent said. “Mr. Ballew was loved by many. We will honor him, support his family, and always remember what he meant to our Brindlee Mountain Schools and community.”

Wigley also shared a message from BMHS principal Terry Allen. Allen said Ballew was a dear friend and coworker. He said that news came after Ballew had been dealing with health issues.

“I had spoken with him last night and he was in good spirits and smiling and laughing, despite having health problems,” The principal said. “He was a good man and was so very important to the personal and educational foundation of our community here at Brindlee. Mr. Ballew served the Brindlee community for over two decades. He will be missed.”

Allen said the school planned to have a school-wide assembly Wednesday morning to address students and the school counselor will be available to help students in faculty.

Allen said that Ballew served his community for over two decades.

BMHS Principle Terry Allen released the following statement:

“I am saddened to share the news that Mr. Bill Ballew, Assistant Principal at Brindlee Mountain High School, has passed away.  He was a good man and was so very important to the personal and educational foundation to our community here at Brindlee.  Mr. Ballew served the Brindlee community for over two decades. He will be missed. This morning we brought our entire family together at Brindlee Mountain High to share the news with students.”

He said he would miss Ballew’s strength, his silence as he chose his words, his leadership, and his help in always making decision for the betterment of their students.

Ballow’s Graveside Service will be at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 16, at Antioch Baptist Cemetary- Fairview, with Bro. David Chambers officiating. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 16, at Cullman Heritage Funeral Home.
