Brother Outsider at the Peoria Riverfront Museum

PEORIA, Ill (WMBD) — The Dirksen Congressional Center in Pekin will offer an exclusive screening of the movie, “Brother Outsider: The life of Bayard Rustin” at the Peoria Riverfront Museum this Friday.

It’s part of the center’s year-long celebration of the 60th anniversary of the Civil Rights Act.

The movie highlights Rustin, who worked with Martin L. King, Jr., at the forefront of the American civil rights movement and helped to organize the March on Washington in 1963, according to the movie’s website.

Tiffany White, the executive director of the Dirksen Congressional Center stopped by to tell us more about the event which will begin at 5 p.m., Aug. 23, at the museum.

White said the screening will also have producers from Los Angles and New York in attendance for a panel discussion.
