Bruce Springsteen Performs At Kamala Harris Rally, Tells Crowd That Donald Trump Is Running To Be “An American Tyrant”
Bruce Springsteen, performing for the first time for Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign, said that Donald Trump “is running to be an American tyrant.”
“He does not understand this country, its history, or what it means to be deeply American,” Springsteen told the crowd at James R. Hallford Stadium near Atlanta.

Springsteen had just made the case for voting for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz.
He said, “I want a president who reveres the Constitution, who does not threaten but wants to protect and guide our great democracy, who believes in the rule of law and the peaceful transfer of power, who will fight for a woman’s right to choose, and who wants to create a middle class economy that will serve all our citizens. There is only one candidate in this election who holds those principles.”
During his set, Springsteen performed “The Promised Land,” “Land of Hope and Dreams” and “Dancing in the Dark.” Springsteen endorsed Harris in a video posted to Instagram earlier this month.
Harris was to be joined by former President Barack Obama at the rally today, in their first appearance together since she launched her presidential campaign.
The get-out-the-vote event also featured Samuel L. Jackson, Spike Lee and Tyler Perry, as well as Sen. Jon Ossoff (D-GA) and Sen. Raphael Warnock (R-GA). “This is a life and death situation,” Lee told the crowd, which the campaign said numbered about 20,000 people.
The Harris campaign has been deploying celebrities to the trail in the final days of the campaign, with the vice president next set to appear at a rally in Houston on Friday with Beyoncé. On Monday, Springsteen also will perform in Philadelphia at a rally, also joined by Obama.
Springsteen also performed for Hillary Clinton, Obama and John Kerry in their presidential campaigns, and endorsed Joe Biden in the last cycle.
Before the rally, Trump’s campaign released a statement blasting Harris for its use of celebrities on the campaign trail.
“Relying on celebrities is nothing new for the party of Hollywood elites — and as voters realize the depths of Kamala’s incompetence and radicalism, she needs an added draw,” the campaign said. “But it’s certainly an indication of just how far out of touch Democrats are with the working class.”
That’s been a common attack line. Yet Trump has been tapping celebrities during his campaign, with Kid Rock performing on the final night of the Republican National Convention and Hulk Hogan giving a memorable performance where he tore off his shirt.
