I-84 re-opens in Gilliam County after brush fire

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A section of I-84 in Gilliam County that was closed in both directions by a brush fire in the median has now re-opened to traffic, the Oregon Department of Transportation said.

The fire began Friday night about 3 miles east of Arlington. On Saturday night, ODOT said I-84 was closed in both directions between milepost 129 and 140 — and then between milepost 137 and 159 — because of this wildfire.

Around 11:30 p.m., ODOT said the highway is open again but drivers should be cautious as crews remain in the area because of “the possibility of low visibility due to smoke.”
