Buffalo man accused of possessing over 500 video files of child pornography

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Buffalo man was arrested and accused of possessing more than 500 video files containing child pornography, the U.S. Attorney’s Office announced Friday.

An undercover law enforcement officer identified an IP address, that allegedly belonged to 37-year-old Sean Braven, during the summer of 2018 that made suspected child pornography available on a peer-to-peer file-sharing network, according to officials.

A search warrant was executed in October 2018 at Braven’s residence which led to several items, including a computer, being seized, officials said. A forensic review of the computer allegedly recovered more than 420 image files and 540 video files containing child pornography, including some that depicted violence against children.

Braven was charged with receipt, distribution and possession of child pornography. He faces a minimum mandatory penalty of five years in prison and a maximum of 20.

Braven made a court appearance and was released on conditions.
