Buffalo man arrested in connection with July 4 shooting

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Buffalo man was arrested and charged in connection with a shooting that occurred on July 4 on the 1400 block of East Delavan Avenue, Buffalo police announced Monday.

Around 4 a.m., officers responded to a shots fired call on East Delavan. While responding, officials said officers encountered a vehicle traveling to ECMC with a victim suffering from a gun shot wound inside. The victim, a 31-year-old male, was treated and released from ECMC.

Irving Mitchell, 41, was arrested on July 12 in connection with the shooting. He was charged with the following:

  • second-degree attempted murder

  • third-degree criminal possession of a weapon

  • second-degree criminal possession of a weapon

  • second-degree reckless endangerment
