Buffalo man arrested in South Carolina in connection with Riverside murder

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Buffalo man accused of committing a murder in the city’s Riverside neighborhood last week was arrested in South Carolina, the Buffalo Police Department said Thursday.

James Dietz, 56, is accused of beating Michael Fronczak, 63, to death on Henrietta Avenue last Saturday. Fronczak was pronounced dead at the scene from blunt force trauma.

During the investigation, authorities said they tracked Dietz to Greenville County, South Carolina and he was arrested there.

Dietz is currently being held in South Carolina as he awaits extradition back to Buffalo. Once he returns to Buffalo, he will be charged with second-degree murder.
