Buffalo man indicted for alleged sexual assault at Shoshone Park
BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Buffalo man was arraigned Friday afternoon on charges following an alleged sexual assault at Shoshone Park in March, the Erie County District Attorney’s Office announced.
Lamont Love, 34, was arraigned on charges of first-degree sexual abuse and third-degree assault.
Officials said around 10:30 p.m. on March 3, Love was riding a bicycle and approached the victim while she was walking in Shoshone Park on the 1900 block of Hertel Avenue. He allegedly jumped off of his bicycle and attacked the victim.
Love is accused of subjecting the victim to sexual contact by forcible compulsion, the district attorney’s office said.
The victim escaped the attack and reported the incident to police.
A temporary order of protection was issued on behalf of the victim remains in effect.
Love is scheduled to return for a pre-trial conference on July 2. Prosecutors requested for him to be held without bail. The court set bail at $25,000 cash, insurance company bail bond or partially secured surety bond, officials said.
