Buzzy SF Japantown spot 7 Adams added to prestigious Michelin Guide

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — A recently opened restaurant in San Francisco’s Japantown earned one of the highest distinctions in gastronomy when it was added to the new Michelin Guide this week. 7 Adams, which opened less than six months ago, was announced as SF’s lone new addition to the Michelin Guide California preview selection on Tuesday.

7 Adams gets its name from the street address of the childhood home of Chef David Fisher. Fisher already has a Michelin star to his name and teamed up with his partner, Chef Serena Chow Fisher in launching 7 Adams.

The Sutter Street spot, according to Michelin, fulfills the tall order of delivering a five-course meal in San Francisco for under a hundred dollars. “Chefs Serena and David Fisher make it seem effortless, though, bringing their signature magic to this second act in a sleek new space,” the Michelin Guide said.

“The cuisine keeps an unfussy Californian simplicity, featuring solid technique and thoughtful flavor combinations that allow quality seasonal ingredients to shine,” the guide continued.

The guide praised the buzzy SF spot’s caramella pasta paired with “buttery chanterelles,” and crisp-skinned black cod with sunchoke confit, among other things.

7 Adams was one of 10 restaurants added to the Michelin Guide. Of the other 10, seven were in Los Angeles, and two others were in Beverly Hills.

Prior to being recognized by the Michelin Guide, 7 Adams was praised by the San Francisco Chronicle. The 10 restaurants added to the guide Tuesday are part of a slow rollout that will see Michelin add additional clusters of restaurants to the guide throughout the year.
