Bywater homicide suspect to be extradited from Texas

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The New Orleans Police Department announced an arrest was made in a Bywater area homicide investigation.

On Aug. 14, NOPD officers responded to the call of a shooting at the corner of Poland and North Johnson streets. When they arrived, officers reported they found a man, 27-year-old Evans Page, on the scene suffering from a gunshot wound.

Page was taken to a hospital by EMS where he died days later on Aug. 18, according to the NOPD.

An investigation led detectives to identify 24-year-old Jerrell J. Andrews as a suspect. An arrest warrant was issued for Andrews who is currently in custody in Houston, Texas.

Man arrested in connection with fatal June Pines Village shooting

He will be extradited to Orleans Parish where he will face charges of second-degree murder and domestic-related charges, according to NOPD Officers.
