Call the Midwife star's show confirms filming has begun
Call the Midwife star Ella Bruccoleri has joined the cast of Mark Gatiss' new series Bookish, with filming now underway.
Announced today (April 29), Bruccoleri has been cast in the six-part crime drama alongside The Inbetweeners' Blake Harrison, The Power of Parker actor Rosie Cavaliero, Jacob Fortune-Lloyd (Bodies, The Queen's Gambit) and Poldark's Luke Norris.
Tom Forbes (Champion) and Amanda Drew (A Very British Scandal) are also joining the cast, while This is Going to Hurt's Michael Workéyè will appear as a guest star.
Set in 1940's London, Bookish stars Gatiss (who is also co-writer, with Matthew Sweet) as "erudite and unconventional" detective Gabriel Book who helps the police to solve a variety of mysterious crimes via the knowledge of the antiquarian books in his shop.

The series, which will show on UKTV's channel Alibi, features three cases – told across two episodes each – with Book surrounded by "a host of lovable, damaged misfits" whom he protects and mentors.
Bridgerton star Polly Walker stars alongside Gatiss as Book's wife Trottie, who runs the wallpaper shop next door.
Book and Trottie share a deep love, however their relationship is not a physical one: the couple have a 'lavender' marriage, which helps Gabriel conceal his sexual orientation in a time where being gay is still illegal.
Filming has now begun in Belgium, with a first look image from the set showing Gatiss and Walker in character stood on a narrow, cobbled street by a retro car.
