Canton motorcyclist killed in Stark County crash

CANTON TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WJW) – The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating after a Canton man riding a motorcycle was killed in a Stark County crash overnight.

State troopers were called out to the crash, which happened at the intersection of Faircrest Street SW and Dueber Avenue SW in Canton Township around 11:15 p.m. Friday.

According to investigators, a black 2009 Yamaha motorcycle was heading south on Deuber Avenue when it struck a white 2006 Subaru heading west on Faircrest Street.

The motorcyclist, identified as 47-year-old Brak Hayhurst of Canton, was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators say he wasn’t wearing a helmet at the time.

The Subaru driver, a 21-year-old Canton woman, wasn’t injured.

State troopers do not suspect alcohol or drugs were involved in the crash, which remains under investigation at this time.
