Car crashes into Metairie canal amid heavy rains
METAIRIE, La. (WGNO) — A family is safe after their vehicle crashed into a Metairie canal during a rainstorm on Wednesday, July 3.

WGNO crews were on the scene at the corner of West Esplanade Avenue and Oaklawn Drive where a silver vehicle was submerged up passed its windows in the canal.
The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office reported the call came in around 12:45 p.m. Five people were in the car and treated at the scene.
Two troopers injured while making arrest on Bourbon Street
The crash is being investigated as a hit-and-run.
