Car totaled after sinking into Lake Springfield
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WCIA) — No one was hurt on Thursday after a car went into Lake Springfield.
The Springfield Fire Department posted pictures and details of the water rescue on their Facebook page Friday. The car went into the water at a local boat ramp and became submerged.

No one was hurt, but the car was deemed a total loss.
The fire department also took the opportunity to share a few boat and water safety tips:
Always wear a life jacket near or on the water, regardless of swimming ability
Supervise children closely around the water and teach them to swim at an early age
Be aware of water conditions and currents, which can change rapidly
Ensure all boat passengers have properly fitting life jackets
Never drink alcohol while driving a boat
Familiarize yourself with local boating laws and regulations
